Sandra Brown, the #1 New York Times bestselling author, keeps readers turning pages with an explosive tale of a long-ago crime and the victim's plan for revenge...When New York publisher Maris Matherly Reed receives a tantalizing manuscript from someone identified only as P.M.E., its blockbuster potential-and perhaps something else-compels her to meet its author. On an eerie, ruined cotton plantation on a remote Georgia island she finds Parker Evans, a man concealing his identity and his past. Maris is drawn into his tale of two young friends and a deadly betrayal ... and to Parker himself. But there's something especially chilling about this novel, its possible connection to Maris's own life, and the real-life character who uses her, or anyone, to get what he wants.

The prologue of a novel arrives in the Manhattan offices of a book editor, who's intrigued enough to chase its mysterious author, identified only by his initials, to his decrepit plantation on an island off the Georgia Coast. That's the first clue that fiction is stranger than fact; few publishers (if any) would go to that sort of trouble for anything less than a new J.D. Salinger novel. But bestselling author Sandra Brown makes the most of her far-fetched premise, setting up a convoluted plot that keeps the reader engrossed despite its flaws and foibles.
Maris Matherly-Reed is more than an editor. She's also the beloved daughter of the publishing house's highly respected and successful leader, and the wife of Matherly Press's second-in-command, the smooth, suave, double-dealing Noah Reed. Reed, it develops, is the real target of the literary scam set up by the reclusive writer of the novel whose opening pages so captivate Reed's spouse. P.M.E., the writer, has a score to settle with Maris's husband, and he doesn't care whom he hurts as long as he brings Noah down. At least, not until he meets Maris, who has an unfortunate habit of falling in love with her authors (see above; that's the second clue). Brown is a master at romantic suspense, and Envy displays the talents that have won her a devoted following: a deft hand at evoking the vulnerability and humanity of her protagonists, a sure command of narrative tension, and a nice sense of place. This is a terrific hammock read, just right for a summer day as sultry and humid as Envy's Low Country setting. --Jane Adams

Envy

Hello my friends top of the morn to ya, Todays painting is called (Envy) and it is one of the Seven deadly sins of the Christian Church. Envy is best defined as an emotion that "occurs when a person lacks another's (perceived) superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it.I think this happens alot to people without them even knowing it,even something as simple as looking at a cool car driving down the road, or so many other simple things, but some people it effects more than others where it becomes a self destructive emotion where envy burns deep down into their soul where it becomes a all consuming force,I don't think I ever had envy of anything that bad , may bee if I was old enough during the time when Joe DiMaggio was married to Marilyn Monroe , I think I would of envied that guy like no other hahah,Bertrand Russell said envy was one of the most potent causes of unhappiness. It is a universal and most unfortunate aspect of human nature because not only is the envious person rendered unhappy by his envy, but also wishes to inflict misfortune on others.Envy" and "jealousy" are often used interchangeably, I know I have thought like this too,but in correct usage, they stand for two different distinct emotions. In proper usage, jealousy is the fear of losing something that one possesses to another person, while envy is the pain or frustration caused by another person having something that one does not have oneself. Envy typically involves two people, and jealousy typically involves three people. I think there is alot more that can be said about envy ,but I'm getting tired and just looking at that dog outside sleeping I'm finding myself envying him for getting some sleep while I'm here typing, take care steve. p.s.
Associated symbols : Envy is linked with the dog and the color green.

What color is envy?
If you''ve worked, you''ve felt it.
When you''re passed over for a promotion
by someone not as creditable as you,
And your value is ignored.

What color is envy?
If you''ve loved, you''ve felt it.
When you want to be loved exclusively
By someone who''s special, but you''re not,
And another has his or her heart.

What color is envy?
If you suffer injustice, you''ve felt it.
When you want respect and are shunned
by someone who''s prejudiced, you''re not,
And there''s nothing you can do.

If you''ve been poor, you''ve felt it.
when talent and work isn''t appreciated.
Someone pays low wages, bills mount,
and you work two or three jobs.

Envy: The Enemy Within: Overcoming the Hidden Emotion That Holds God's Plans Hostage

Envy might well be termed the silent sin. Because while all of us envy others to some extent, few of us acknowledge our problem out loud, let alone try to overcome it and move forward. Bob Sorge draws upon his own pastoral experience-plus the admitted burden of his own envy-to show why and how it can adversely affect the ministry of a church and even prevent revival in people's lives. Sorge reveals why comparison of our ministry and spiritual gifts to that of our fellow believers is to be avoided at all costs so that we do not hamstring God's plan for our growth and the accomplishment of His purposes. This is a must-read for leaders of all churches, great and small-and anyone who wants the peace that comes with a life free of envy.
